EcoSoya Pillar Blend (PB) is self-releasing so it is perfect for all moulded candles: pillars votives, tarts, novelty candles, etc. Candles made with EcoSoya PB have a creamy appearance and ship well in all climates.

Heat the wax to the desired temperature. If adding dyes, the wax may be heated to between 68.3'C and 87.8'C. If the wax is heated to 87.8'C this will have no adverse effect on the wax if it is cooled quickly. After melting (and adding of any colours) allow the wax to cool before pouring.
Pour temperatures will vary according to the mould type and size, fragrance and dye and the effects you want to achieve. A recommended starting temperature is 68.3'C. It is typical for the wax to solidify with the mould at the beginning of the pour during its first contact with the mould. Ensure your PB is heated to a temperature high enough so that when the mould if full, the initial solidified wax has remelted. The temperature should not be so high that the liquid wax sits more than 30 minutes before starting to solidify.
There is a difference in cooling rates for different mould configurations. Cooling too quickly or too slowly can cause cracking and/or frosting. If difficulties are experienced with your pour temperatures, try a lower or higher temperature in increments of 5'C.
When using EcoSoya PB two pours are required with candles such as 7.6 cm & 10.2 cm diameter pillars. The first pour is done at 68.3°C by filling the mold to the top and allowing the candle to set up with a warm but congealed soft center. If the top of the mold (bottom of the candle) has “skinned” over and left a void inside, poke two holes into the candle near the wick.
The second pour is done at 60.0°C while the candle center is still warm but congealed.
Do not pour past the solidified wax of the first pour; in essence “fill” the first pour.
Making Votives with PB:
The first pour is done at 68.3°C by filling the mold within 0.3 cm from the top. Allow the votive to cool until it is still warm with a congealed center that has no liquid. If the top of the candle has “skinned” over, poke two holes near the wick. Pour a second time at 60.0°C to completely fill the votive mold.
Pour temperatures should be checked and confirmed according to seasonal changes.
Colours and fragrances
To achieve a better colour depth in EcoSoya Pillar Blend, we recommend adding approximately 30% more dye. Fragrances work well in EcoSoya PB, but please always do a test burn. If you have been making candles with a different type of wax (soy or paraffin), EcoSoya PB may perform differently. To minimise scent loss, add fragrance prior to pouring the wax at a temperature no less than 57'C. Remember to accommodate for the temperature drop due to the addition of the cooler scent when targeting the pour temperature.
Keep stored in a cool dry location away from direct heat, sunlight and moisture. Temporary extremes in temperatures (cold or hot) have no adverse effect.
When stored properly, as per the instructions above, EcoSoya PB has a minimum shelf life of 3 years.
When starting out with a new formula of materials (wax, wick, fragrance, dye & container) always perform a test burn. Wait 48 hours after pouring your candles to ensure they have fully set.
